After earning first team Junior College All-American honors at Iowa Western this season, wide receiver Nick Easley had several different options on the table, including full ride scholarship offers from Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, and Robert Morris.

But the 6-foot-0, 204-pound Easley grew up dreaming of playing major college football, so he started looking at preferred walk-on opportunities in the Big Ten and Big 12.

"I've just always wanted to play at the highest level," said Easley. "It wasn't easy, but I believe I can compete at that level and had to take advantage of the opportunity."

Initially, the Newton, IA native decided on the Iowa State Cyclones earlier this month, but late interest from the Iowa Hawkeyes this past week quickly changed his mind.

"Iowa came in a little later, but I grew up a Hawk fan and couldn't be happier to be a part of the program," said Easley. "After talking to Coach Ferentz, I knew it was the right decision."

Easley will be transferring to the University of Iowa at semester in January, so he will go through off-season workouts and spring practice with the team in 2017.

"I'm coming in as a preferred walk on," said Easley. "After talking to the coaches, I feel like I have a great chance to compete. I'm just looking to contribute in any way that I can."

This past season, Easley had 72 catches for 954 yards and 7 touchdowns, which earned him first team All-American honors from the NJCAA.
