JUCO WR walking on

Sioux City native Ronald Nash has wanted to play for the Hawkeyes for quite some time and will now get his chance as a preferred walk-on at Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver from Iowa Western Community College arrived at his decision after visiting Iowa City earlier this month and gave the coaching staff the news this afternoon.
"I think I knew from the beginning, but in the past couple days I've been thinking about it pretty hard," said Nash. "Finally, I just decided that no matter the situation, Iowa is where I want to be."

"So I decided to make it final and called Coach Morgan, who is my recruiting coach at Iowa, and he was genuinely excited about it," he continued. "Our whole conversation went really well, which made me even more excited about it."
As a freshman at Iowa Western, Nash caught 28 passes for 340 yards and three touchdowns last season. Instead of returning to the Reivers for his sophomore year, now he will be enrolling at Iowa in June and hopes to make the most of his three years of eligibility remaining.
"I think I'm walking into a great situation for playing and possibly earning a scholarship," Nash said. "I'm going to have to work hard, but I think it's possible. It's all up to me as far as the work I put in and how I progress, but I'm confident about it."
With his longtime goal of playing at Iowa about to become a reality, Nash is excited about the future and glad he was able to find the right fit in a Division I college football program.
"I think honestly I've known since my junior year that Iowa is the place I want to be," said Nash. "I just feel like there's something special there. They have a great program and a great staff. The coaches have always been honest with me from the beginning and everyone there is so genuine."
"My family really likes Iowa too," he continued. "I think it's a great fit for me."
