Kyle Williams Still Solidly Committed To Hawkeyes

With rumors running wild that Kyle Williams might be considering Oregon after committing this fall to Iowa, he set the record straight this evening that he will be signing with the Hawkeyes on February 4th.

This past week a home visit from Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz cemented any doubts that might linger in the mind of the 6-foot-2 and 225 pound five star linebacker.

“He was here last Wednesday and it went real good. I always enjoy spending time with Coach Ferentz,” Williams said. “He is just such an easy guy to talk to and that is something I have always enjoyed.”

The main topic of their visit on Wednesday night was “Bonecrusher” Williams future at Iowa.

“We spent a lot of time talking about coming in and playing next year. I will have an opportunity to earn playing time next year at Iowa.”

The talk of Williams wavering on his commitment, even though he continued to say he was with Iowa, weighed on his mind.

“Some of the talk about me de-committing got pretty old real quick. I just tried to not let that talk get to me,” said Williams. “But, I was always still with Iowa.”

For Williams it was the comfort level that he had with Iowa that eventually erased any possible doubt.

“Iowa is the place for me. I feel more comfortable with Iowa players and coaches,” Williams said. “At Oregon I liked the opportunity for playing time and the facilities. I liked the direction that their program was headed. But, Iowa was a better fit for me.”

The recruiting process appears to have come to an end for the five star prospect, as rated by Rivals.com. He has enjoyed being recruited and plans a low key signing day.

“The whole recruiting process has been fun for me. I am not going to do anything special for signing day. I will probably just go to school and sign the papers and fax them in to Iowa,” said Williams.

This past weekend Williams moved to 25-0 on the wrestling mat.

“I am 25-0 now. I had three pins this weekend. I even moved up to heavyweight for one match and pinned a guy,” said Williams. “I am going to continue to work towards winning the state title this year.”
