Manchigiah ready to compete

Whether it is the Rivals Camp in Chicago or one of his upcoming college stops, defensive back Joshua Manchigiah says he is ready to compete. The Class of 2016 prospect proved that on Sunday with good coverage in one on ones, a couple pass break-ups, and an interception. Beforehand, we caught up with Manchigiah to talk about his recruiting, the camps he plans to attend this summer, and much more.

Q: First, tell me about today. What are you hoping to do out here?

MANCHIGIAH: I'm excited and just ready to compete. I'm looking forward to some good competition and ready for one on ones like everyone is. Just ready to compete and show that Nebraska has better talent than everyone thinks.

Q: Are you working out on offense, defense, or both?

MANCHIGIAH: Probably just going to do corner.

Q: That is kind your favorite spot if you had to choose right?

MANCHIGIAH: Right. I prefer defense over offense.

Q: What do you like about cornerback? What do you like about defense?

MANCHIGIAH: Probably the best thing is the reaction of a receiver after you beat them, batting down a ball and getting a pick. I feel like getting an interception is more fun than catching a ball.

Q: Tell me about recruiting. What is kind of the list of schools showing the most interest right now?

MANCHIGIAH: It would probably go Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Utah State, and then I'm going down to LSU for camp this year. They invited me down there for that.

Q: You were just out to visit Iowa's spring game last week right?

MANCHIGIAH: I did. I went to that.

Q: What was that experience like?

MANCHIGIAH: It was fun. It was good to see the coaches. I talked to Coach Morgan a lot and then he stopped by my school on Tuesday. It was good to see the new facilities that they'll have. Those will be exciting for next season. I'm ready to see what those look like.

Q: After this, is it kind of on to camps this summer?

MANCHIGIAH: After this, it will be a few more track meets and then the camp season begins.

Q: What's the list right now? Where do you want to camp at this summer?

MANCHIGIAH: I'm going to Nebraska, LSU, Iowa, Iowa State, and Minnesota.
