Martin talks recruiting process

In the past month, Oliver Martin has done what just about every recruit hopes for when they are looking for a college program, he blew up. The 2017 wide receiver from Iowa City West has gone from limited offers to scholarship opportunities from some of the top schools in the country, including the Hawkeyes. He talks about blowing up, where the Hawkeyes stand, and the process moving forward.

Q: Are you getting that from any other school?

MARTIN: Not at the level that Iowa is. Some of the kids from other schools try to talk to me, but not nearly at the level that Iowa is.

Q: Is there a pull to stay close to home?

MARTIN: Yeah, I think so. But, I am open to going further away from home if the school is a better fit for me.

Q: Is Rocky Lombardi working on you to come to Michigan State?

MARTIN: Yeah. I am going to try and call him soon to talk about it. He definitely wants to talk to me and get me to go there. I love Rocky. He’s a good guy.

Q: You are an Iowa City kid and grew up here, but you want to go thru the process. Can you explain to fans why you want to go thru the process and let it play out?

MARTIN: I want to get all the options I can and find the best fit for me. I don’t want to jump and commit too soon and maybe that doesn’t end up being the right place for me. I guess I just want to get to know the schools as best I can before I make a decision so I can make the best decision.

As a junior, Martin caught 73 passes for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns.

A three-star prospect, he currently holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, BYU, Army, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, UNI, Western Illinois, and South Dakota State.
