McCaffery, the son of Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery, is a Class of 2017 prospect who was ranked by ESPN.com this summer as a Top 25 prospect in his class. Earlier this summer Connor McCaffery indicated to HawkeyeReport.com that he held an offer from his father. At the time, it was very clear that he would be committing to the Hawkeyes eventually and play for his father.
Last season, the 6-foot-5 guard started for Iowa City West and helped them capture their third straight state title. He averaged 6.1 points and a team high five assists per game.
With McCaffery on board, the Hawkeyes now have three commitments in the Class of 2015 with Ahmad Wagner, Brandon Hutton, and Andrew Fleming, one commitment in 2016 witth in-state standout forward Cordell Pemsl, and one in 2017 with McCaffery.
