Indiana safety Paul Moala landed his first Big Ten offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes this past weekend. For the 6-foot-0, 202-pound Moala, who attended Iowa’s camp on Sunday, the offer came as a surprise initially.

“I was very surprised the morning they offered because personally I felt as if I could've done a lot better at camp,” said Moala. “It's truly a blessing though and I'm humbled to have been offered by such a big time school.”

The opportunity is one that has Moala interested in learning more about the University of Iowa and their football program under head coach Kirk Ferentz.

“Iowa is definitely going to receive a ton of interest from me and I'm just going to continue to do my part and study the program,” he continued. “They're a great team with a great coaching staff and that excites me.”

At Iowa’s camp on Sunday, Moala played safety and then tried out linebacker as well, and could project at either position in college.

“It was great to briefly learn a new position and compete there,” Moala said. “I think they're still contemplating what would best fit me because while I was down there they told me they were unsure.”

Up next for the Class of 2018 prospect will be more camps this summer as he looks to improve his skills and garner more college interest.

“I'm definitely going to be hitting up camps this summer,” said Moala. “I just love learning new things and bringing it back home and working on those new things with my boys to try and improve our game for the team.”

“I will be attending the Irish Invasion camp this weekend and then the Stanford football camp next.”

Currently, Moala is targeting a late summer or early fall decision if all goes according to plan.

“My decision will probably be made in the beginning of the season, but if the race is too close I will extend that time period,” Moala said.
