Coming in at 6-foot-5 and 233 pounds, Detroit defensive end Chauncey Golston hopes to play as a true freshman at Iowa. We caught up with Golston, who will wear #57 for the Hawkeyes, to talk about making the transition to college and much more.

Q: When do you make the move to Iowa City this summer?

GOLSTON: I make the move on the 12th of June.

Q: What are you looking forward to in starting workouts with the team?

GOLSTON: I'm looking forward to getting stronger and getting to know my teammates.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman year? Are you hoping to play or expecting to redshirt?

GOLSTON: My goals are to get stronger, faster, and play as a freshman.

Q: What will it mean to you to walk out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium for the first time?

GOLSTON: It while mean that I'm one step closer to achieving my dream.

Q: When you look back at everything, what was it about Iowa that made it the right place for you?

GOLSTON: What made Iowa the right place for me was that they're a blue collar, hardworking type of program with a top five physical therapy school, which I'm majoring in, so it’s a win-win situation.

As a senior, Golston finished the season with 43 tackles and 12 tackles for loss for East English Village this past year.
