Florida cornerback Josh Turner is looking to make an impact as a true freshman at Iowa this year. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound Turner, who will wear #4 for the Hawkeyes, discusses his goals for his upcoming freshman year, what made Iowa the right fit for him, and much more.

Q: When do you make the move to Iowa City this summer?

TURNER: I report June 10th and I'm pretty sure we start workouts that Monday on the 12th.

Q: What are you looking forward to in starting workouts with the team?

TURNER: I'm looking forward to starting workouts because I'll finally get a chance to work with my teammates. I'm also just looking forward to grinding all summer with Coach Doyle and giving my all every workout, so I can get my body ready for the season.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman year? Are you hoping to play or expecting to redshirt?

TURNER: My goal for my freshman year is to contribute to the team as much as I can. My ultimate goal is to start though. I feel like everyone should be going in with that mindset. But more than anything I just want to compete and get better every day. If I can get better at something every day, I'll be happy. But I have no intentions of redshirting.

Q: Which coach do you talk with the most and what has been their message?

TURNER: I talk to Coach Wallace the most and he just reiterates to me that I'm going have to come in ready to play at corner.

Q: What was it like visiting spring practice last month now that you are so close to being there?

TURNER: It was pretty cool to visit for the spring game and see my future teammates in action. I just really wish I could play right now to be honest.

Q: What will it mean to you to walk out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium for the first time?

TURNER: It'll be a great moment when I can walk out for the first time as a player and swarm with my teammates.

Q: When you look back at everything, what was it about Iowa that made it the right place for you?

TURNER: The coaching stability and the feel of the school and the campus as well as how comfortable I am with the coaches is what made Iowa the place for me.

Q: Lastly, what number will you be wearing at Iowa and can we get a height and weight update?

TURNER: I will be wearing #4 in college and I'm currently 6-foot, 180 pounds.

A three-star prospect, Turner committed to Iowa last August, choosing the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, Boston College, Wake Forest, Army, South Florida, Central Florida, Southern Miss, Navy, Albany, Bowling Green, Columbia, Florida International, Appalachian State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Towson, Utah State, and Western Michigan.

As a senior, Turner finished with 42 tackles and 16 pass breakups this past season for American Heritage High School in Delray Beach, Florida.
