Tolbert visits Iowa City
Class of 2017 wide receiver Jalin Tolbert has plenty of college interest, but is still looking for his first scholarship offer. This weekend, the 6-foot-1, 184-pound Tolbert made a visit to Iowa City to learn more about the Hawkeyes and their interest. We caught up with him afterwards to get a complete update.
Q: What all did you get to do at Iowa this weekend?
TOLBERT: We got the full Hawkeye experience from academics to hanging out and even getting the uncensored truth of the college life from their players.
Q: What was the biggest highlight for you?
TOLBERT: I'd say the biggest highlight for me on the visit is always looking at their facility. You can’t help but feel an urge of excitement every time you see it.
Q: What did the coaches say when you met with the? Is there potential for an offer there?
TOLBERT: They told me that they just wanted to see a little bit more film. Potentially even a mid-season highlight could do the trick. But it’s going to take a little bit of work.
Q: Have you been to Iowa before? Were you at their camp?
TOLBERT: I have been there multiple times, so I’m a very familiar face to the coaches. I’ve camped with the team before as a sophomore, but sadly this year i wasn't able to make it down.
Q: Are you still looking for your first offer right now? Who all is showing the most interest?
TOLBERT: Yes, I am still looking for my first. The schools who are showing pretty good interest in me are Illinois, Indiana, Central Michigan, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Wisconsin, and a little bit from Iowa.
Q: What is next for you? Are there more visits or just getting ready for the season?
TOLBERT: Now I’m focusing on the season and nothing else. My team deserves a ring.
Q: What do you think you have to show teams this year to start getting those offers?
TOLBERT: To get these offers, I just have to show all the hard work I've put in over the summer and prove I’m a playmaker.
