Wade commits to Iowa

Barrington Wade's first scholarship offer came from the Iowa Hawkeyes. As the 6-foot-1, 207-pound Illinois native continued to collect offers over the past few months, it was that first one that always stuck with him. Today, Wade decided to end the recruiting process and gave his verbal commitment to the Iowa coaching staff.

A versatile athlete, Wade could play linebacker or running back in college. As a junior at Niles North High School, he rushed for 894 yards and 19 touchdowns despite missing the first three games of the season with a foot injury.
Wade, a three-star prospect, also held scholarship offers from Connecticut, Wyoming, Western Michigan, Ball State, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan, among others.
The Illinois native is the eighth commitment for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2016.
HawkeyeReport.com will have more on Wade's decision later today.
