Will it be offense or defense for Jackson?

On his official visit with the Hawkeyes this past weekend, Iowa commit Josh Jackson met with coaches on both offense and defense as they still have not decided which position he will play in college. We caught up with Jackson to get his thoughts on the trip, the latest on where he will line up for the Hawkeyes, and much more.

Q: How was the official visit to Iowa this weekend?

JACKSON: It was good. I think my second time being there, it was a lot better.

Q: What all did you get to see and do that stood out?

JACKSON: I got to meet with a lot more of the players and talk to the coaches and really build a relationship with them and the same with the players. I got to see a lot more of Iowa City and the campus and meet some of my future teammates that are committed. It was great.

Q: Who was your host for the weekend?

JACKSON: Derrick Mitchell.

Q: Meeting with the coaches, what did they say about your role coming in next year?

JACKSON: They said just to be ready to work hard. Whichever position I end up playing, they said just to work hard and try to do your best and be ready to play.

Q: What different positions could that be?

JACKSON: They're still deciding, but either cornerback or receiver.

Q: Did you meet with coaches on both sides then?

JACKSON: Yes sir. I met with Coach Phil Parker and Coach Bobby Kennedy.

Q: Do you have a preference between the two positions?

JACKSON: No, I don't. I like both of them, so whichever one I play, I'll be fine with it.

Q: Is it more about where you can get on the field earlier or be more successful long term or what will it be do you think?

JACKSON: Well, I think whichever position I play, I'll be successful, but really I want to be able to get on the field early, so whichever one that is probably.

Q: Leaving Iowa today, what were kind of your thoughts on your decision and going there next year?

JACKSON: I wanted to go back as soon as I left, so I mean I like it a lot there.

Q: What do you have planned for signing day coming up?

JACKSON: I think we're going to do something at my school probably and have all of the people that are committed do something together. Then after that, probably go out to eat or something.

Q: What are your thoughts on that day now that it's just around the corner?

JACKSON: I'm just excited. I'm ready to be a Hawkeye. It will be a good time with my coaches and family and everybody, so I'm just excited about it.
