Ames QB walking on

Ames quarterback Kyle Anderson has decided on his college future. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Anderson will be walking on at the University of Iowa and joining the Hawkeyes this year. A visit to spring practice in Iowa City this past month sealed the deal for the in-state quarterback.

"Making the decision to walk on at Iowa was a really easy one for me," said Anderson. "I've always wanted to play football at the Division I level at a school like Iowa. I really liked it there when I took my visit and once I got home from that I knew that was where I wanted to go."

As a senior, Anderson put up good numbers in leading Ames to a 9-3 record. He finished 198 of 324 passing (61.1%) for 2,275 yards and 15 touchdowns and added 495 yards rushing and 9 touchdowns on the ground as well.

After earning all-conference and all-state honors, Anderson had a couple of different options for college, but decided he wanted to play at the highest level possible.

"I was getting some looks from a few Division II programs, but Iowa was my best option at the Division I level so I decided to take it," Anderson said.

Anderson is the eighth known incoming walk-on for the Iowa Hawkeyes this year.
