Bernstine rates Iowa visit a perfect ten

Four-star safety Jordan Bernstine is on his way home to Des Moines this afternoon after spending the weekend in Iowa City on an official visit. According to the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Bernstine, who is a top 100 prospect nationally, the trip to the University of Iowa went well this weekend.

"It was really good," said Bernstine. "I got to meet with the players, the coaches, and some of the other recruits. We just all hung out and it was pretty fun."

Bernstine, who made the visit with his mom this weekend, has been to Iowa City several times before. This time around, the four-star prospect was able to spend a lot of time with the Hawkeye players.

"My host was Derrick Smith and he was real cool," Bernstine said. "Whenever I asked him questions, he just answered them truthfully and he showed me around everywhere. Then I had the chance to talk with other players too like Albert Young, Marcus Paschal, Adrian Clayborn, and a lot of them."

On Saturday night, Bernstine joined the Iowa team and the other recruits in town at the annual football banquet.

"Everyone was all dressed up and it was nice," said Bernstine. "It was pretty cool to see some of the players that I had just talked to up there getting some awards."

With several recruits that have already committed to Iowa in town this weekend, the Hawkeyes had more than just the coaches recruiting Bernstine to Iowa City.

"I had a chance to talk with all of the committed guys," Bernstine said. "They're not really putting pressure on me, but they're just saying they'd love to have me at Iowa with them next year. It's cool. That's the same thing I would be doing if I committed somewhere."

Before heading home to Des Moines today, Bernstine and the other recruits went over to head coach Kirk Ferentz's house for breakfast.

"This morning we went out to Coach Ferentz's house," Bernstine said. "I had a chance to sit down with Coach Ferentz one-on-one. We just talked about the visit and when I would be making my decision."

That decision is quickly approaching, as Bernstine plans to make his college choice by the holidays later this month. After rating his visit to UCLA last weekend as a perfect ten, the Des Moines native said the trip to Iowa City was very comparable.

"I'd give this one a ten," said Bernstine. "It was just a great time all around."

With official visits to Iowa, UCLA, Nebraska, and Texas A&M already in the books, Bernstine could take one more trip if he chooses to do so. If he does, it will likely be to Pittsburgh next week, but if not then he will decide between the four schools he has visited here in the coming weeks.
