Boyle headed to Iowa

In-state quarterback Ryan Boyle has committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Boyle gave his verbal pledge to the Iowa coaching staff today after they offered him a scholarship a little over a month ago.

In addition to Iowa, Boyle held offers from Western Michigan, Illinois State, and Montana State, and also drew interest from Iowa State, Kansas State, and Nebraska, among others.

Coming back from a torn ACL his sophomore year, Boyle put up big numbers as a junior, completing 119 of 187 pass attempts for 1,833 yards and 21 touchdowns with only three interceptions. A dual-threat quarterback in high school, he also racked up 1,332 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on the ground during Dowling's undefeated run to the state championship in Class 4A this past fall.

Boyle joins a 2015 recruiting class for Iowa that already includes Illinois quarterback Jack Beneventi and in-state signal caller Drew Cook, who the Hawkeyes are recruiting as an athlete.

Overall, Boyle is the sixth commitment for Iowa in the Class of 2015 and the fifth from inside the state.

HawkeyeReport.com will have more on Boyle's commitment shortly.
