Linebacker Mike Bruner, who was the first Class of 2018 prospect to give the Hawkeyes his verbal pledge, announced his decommitment from Iowa tonight.

"After much thought and talking with my family, I have made a very tough decision to decommit from the University of Iowa," Bruner said in a statement. "I would like to say thanks to the entire Hawkeye coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to be apart of their program and wish them nothing but the best."

"I feel that I committed too early and believe it is in my best interest to take more time to make my decision. With that said, I am reopening my recruitment."

Bruner's departure leaves Iowa with three commits in 2018 - Henry Geil, Dillon Doyle, and Jeff Jenkins.
