Michigan defensive back Christion Stokes had been to Iowa once before, but that was nearly two years ago so his official visit this weekend was a different experience on a whole other level.

"I felt the love soon as we landed," said Stokes. "We were picked up from the airport and treated to lunch. They gave us a lot of tours around the campus and we got to talk football with Coach Parker and hang with some of the coolest college guys. It was all around a good experience."

Sitting down with Iowa defensive coordinator and secondary coach Phil Parker, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Stokes discussed the possibility of playing both cornerback and safety in college.

"He said I could play both," Stokes said. "It’s a lot to learn, but I can definitely have a chance of playing both."

Stokes' host for the weekend was fellow Michigan native Kaevon Merriweather, a junior defensive back for the Hawkeyes, and the Class of 2022 prospect felt like he fit in well with the team.

"The players are some of the coolest guys you’ll ever meet," said Stokes. "I had a lot of fun with my host Kaevon Merriweather and some other players I hung out with were Tyler Goodson and Tyrone Tracy."

Overall, the Hawkeyes definitely impressed Stokes and his father on their official visit to Iowa City this weekend.

"After leaving Iowa, they really made a big impression on me," Stokes said. "It’s a lot of fun being in a place people think is in the middle of no where, but there's so much to do and learn, it was an amazing experience."

Now, it is decision time for Stokes with a July 10th announcement planned and a final three of Iowa, West Virginia, and Michigan State.

"I just have to sit down and talk with my dad about what decision is best for me and what school fits my needs the best," said Stokes.
