Colorado quarterback Alex Padilla currently holds a dozen scholarship offers and interest from several other schools throughout the country. One of those is the Iowa Hawkeyes, who had the 6-foot-1, 191-pound Padilla on campus last weekend for their first camp of the summer.

“The camp itself was very well organized and it was good to see the way they run things at Iowa,” said Padilla. “They are very well disciplined and hardworking.”

After staying in close contact with Iowa quarterbacks coach Ken O’Keefe since the spring, Padilla had his first chance to work with him at the camp on Sunday.

“I thought I did well,” Padilla continued. “I threw the ball well, got to show some different things that I can do with throwing on the run and moving in the pocket. Coach O’Keefe liked my feet and quick delivery and he liked my mobility as well. He gave me some things to work on like using my lower body to generate some more power when throwing. Overall, it was a good day.”

The trip also gave Padilla a chance to check out the surroundings at the University of Iowa, which left him thoroughly impressed.

“It was really eye opening, just their facilities and the town,” said Padilla. “I was very impressed with everything they have to offer.”

Now, the question is whether or not the Hawkeyes decide to offer. The Class of 2019 prospect hopes to find out relatively soon.

“They’re supposed to get back to me sometime soon to explain where they are at exactly,” Padilla said.

Currently, Padilla holds scholarship offers from UNLV, Colorado State, Nevada, Central Michigan, North Texas, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn, Yale, South Dakota, and Northern Colorado. He also has a few others, like Iowa, that he remains in close contact with as they continue to evaluate.

“I’ve also been talking to Utah, San Diego St, Wyoming, Indiana, and Oregon State,” said Padilla.

Meanwhile, Padilla will be hard at work this off-season as he looks to improve on his junior year, which saw him complete 182 of 269 pass attempts for 2,678 yards and 40 touchdowns at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, CO.

“I’ll just be practicing with my team and possibly doing some more camps, but I’m not sure which ones yet,” Padilla said.
