DE Kenneth Merrieweather commits to Iowa

Defensive end Kenneth Merrieweather is headed to Iowa. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Detroit native announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes today after making an official visit to Iowa City on June 24.

A three-star prospect, Merrieweather chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Purdue, Pittsburgh, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Syracuse, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Kent State, Toledo, Howard, and Alabama A&M.

Overall, Merrieweather is commitment No. 16 for Iowa, joining Kadyn Proctor, Trevor Lauck, Kendrick Raphael, Marco Lainez, Alex Mota, Maddux Borcherding-Johnson, Chase Brackney, Leighton Jones, Ben Kueter, John Nestor, Zach Lutmer, Aidan Hall, David Caulker, Cannon Leonard, and Zach Ortwerth in the Class of 2023 for the Hawkeyes.

As a junior, Merrieweather finished the season with 39 tackles, six sacks, and one interception return for a touchdown in leading Detroit King to a state title in 2021.
