Fleming shines at Pangos

With the recruiting process over, Andrew Fleming can just go out and play basketball. The 2015 Iowa commit did just that this past weekend at the prestigious Pangos All American Camp in Southern California, earning an invite to the camps all-star game.
"I kind of just went out there with the mindset of not wanting to prove myself, but just went out there and played ball," Fleming said. "I just went out and relaxed and had fun and played my game. I thought I played at a high level and shot the ball at a pretty high percentage. I think I shot about 50% from the floor and I rebounded the ball really well too."

Fleming ended up as the 7th leading scorer in the Pangos Camp, averaging 16.3 points per game, including a 31 point and 5 rebound performance on Sunday morning that helped to earn him an invite to the Pangos all-star game that wrapped up the weekend's games.
"I went into the camp hoping to make the all-star game. Once I started playing well during the camp, I realized I could make the all-star game. Then on Sunday morning I had a 31 point game and I figured that sealed the deal for making the all-star game for the top 30 players in the camp because that game put me in the top 10 scorers in the camp. Overall I was happy to be in the all-star game."
The 6-foot-4 shooting guard says that having his commitment to the Hawkeyes done has helped him relax and that probably helped him on the court this weekend.
"I think having my commitment done probably helps," he said. "I could just walk around with my Hawkeye gear on and just go out and play ball and not have to worry about what this game might do to my recruitment. I know a lot of guys are really kind of stressed out about the recruiting process and can be tough to deal with."
After his performance on Sunday, Fleming heard from the Hawkeye coaches via text message to let him know they were happy he had a good camp at Pangos.
"Coach Dillard and Coach Speraw both sent me text messages saying they read what Eric Bossi had to say on Rivals.com about my 31 point game and how well I played. They both said they were proud of the way I played and I appreciated hearing from them."
After committing to Iowa, Fleming indicated that he would become a recruiter for the Hawkeyes as they try to compete the Class of 2015 and beyond. He has been true to his word in that regard, playing the role of selling the Iowa program and also perhaps turning the Iowa coaches on to a few players he saw.
"I've been talking to as many guys as I can about Iowa and looking for guys who can help us at the four and five spots in my class. I talked to some guys at the camp and I've also been talking to Samir Sehic, who wasn't at the camp, but Iowa is recruiting him hard and I've been trying to work on him as well."
Fleming says he plans to take the month of June to continue to work on his game. This weekend, he will be in Dallas working out with his trainer. He's waiting to hear if he gets invited to play in other camps, including the NBA Players Top 100 camp later this month. In July he will be back with Team Thad, his AAU team, and he has been selected to play in the Adidas Global Experience, representing Latin America. The Adidas event is in late July in Long Beach, CA and will be a televised event.
