Hadachek headed to Iowa

Trev Hadachek is going to play college football at the University of Iowa. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Hadachek, who attends Union Community High School in La Porte City, IA, announced his decision to join the Hawkeyes as a preferred walk-on on Wednesday.

"I'm going to be a Hawkeye," said Hadachek.

Hadachek arrived at his decision after weighing all of his options, which included a partial scholarship offer from UNI and walk-on opportunities at Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin, and Arkansas.

"Really, it was just my visit. Iowa was just the place that I felt the most comfortable," Hadachek said. "That was really the most overpowering factor for me."

A first team all-state selection, Hadachek was a star on both sides of the ball for Union this past season, finishing with 687 yards receiving, 471 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns on offense to go along with 40 tackles and four interceptions on defense. In college, he could project at wide receiver or safety.

"They really left it up to me where I want to start out at," said Hadachek. "I'm not really sure which one I want to do yet."

With the weight of his college decision off his shoulders, Hadachek was able to relax a little on Wednesday, but is looking forward to his future at Iowa.

"It feels great," Hadachek said. "It's definitely a relief to get it over with, but I'm excited about it."
