Hawkeyes get their QB

The Iowa Hawkeyes did not have many offers out there at quarterback, but it was clearly a position of need in the 2011 recruiting class. This week, the Iowa coaching staff got their man as Florida signal caller Jake Rudock pulled the trigger and gave his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes.
"He committed to Iowa yesterday and he is very excited," said Rudock's mom, Kathy.

In addition to Iowa, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Rudock held scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado, and Memphis. Along with his family, he embarked on a tour of some of the Midwest schools on his list this month, which included a stop in Iowa City that made a good impression.
"We visited Iowa recently and really liked it out there," Kathy Rudock said.
Rudock plays at football powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale where he completed 128 of 197 passes for 1,945 yards and 34 touchdowns with only five interceptions last season.
The Florida quarterback is the eighth verbal commitment for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2011.
HawkeyeReport.com will have more on Rudock's decision later today.
