Hawkeyes land big 2017 commit

The Iowa Hawkeyes landed a big in-state commit in the Class of 2017 on Monday night from Mount Vernon offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Wirfs, who has been a frequent visitor to Iowa City, announced his decision on Twitter this evening.

Currently the No. 3 ranked prospect in the state of Iowa in 2017, Wirfs chose the Hawkeyes over an offer from the Iowa State Cyclones. He is the third recruit to commit to Iowa in his class, joining Juan Harris and Coy Kirkpatrick

"I am beyond excited to announce that I have decided to further my education and football career by committing to play football for the University of Iowa!"

"I know that this is the best place for me because it feels like home and that's where I belong."

"I want to thank everyone who has been a part of this and pushing me to be that person I am today!"
