The Iowa coaching staff has had Georgia linebacker Jayden McDonald at the top of their board for the past month. Tonight, all of their hard work on the recruiting trail paid off as the 6-foot-1 , 210-pound McDonald announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes.

A three-star prospect, McDonald had narrowed his options down to Iowa, Ole Miss, Kansas State, and Purdue in recent weeks. During the recruiting process, he also picked up scholarship offers from Rutgers, Cincinnati, Connecticut, UNLV, Southern Miss, Colorado State, Bowling Green, Toledo, and Florida Atlantic, among others.

Overall, McDonald is commitment No. 22 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2018.

As a senior, McDonald racked up 93 tackles, 17 TFL, 13 sacks, and four interceptions as he led North Gwinnett High School to a state championship.
