Hawkeyes offer Smith-Marsette

The Iowa Hawkeyes have been staying in close contact with New Jersey wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette for some time now. Tonight, the Hawkeyes took the next step and officially offered a scholarship to three-star prospect during an in-home visit with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Smith-Marsette, who is verbally committed to Rutgers, plans to make an official visit to Iowa City on January 20. Just prior to that, he will receive an in-home visit from Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz on January 16 to go over how he might fit into the Hawkeyes' offense.
