Imming walking on at Iowa

Sioux City East senior Alex Imming is going to continue his football career at the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Imming decided to join the Hawkeyes as a walk-on next season after talking things over with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz on Tuesday.

"I just want to play at the highest level of college football and I really like what their program has to offer," said Imming, who also had interest from Iowa State, Air Force, and South Dakota.

A quarterback in high school, Imming said he will probably play wide receiver or safety in college. As a senior, he completed 123 of 203 pass attempts for 1,548 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Class of 2012 prospect also rushed for 1,057 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground as well.

Imming is the third known walk-on for the Hawkeyes this year, joining Sioux City Heelan running back Michael Malloy along with Iowa Western Community College running back Andre Dawson, who enrolled at semester.
