COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – It is difficult to be labeled as a breakout player when you’re already seated within the 2020 rankings. However, Xavier Foster, a 6-foot-9 big man from Iowa, more than proved himself at the USA Basketball Junior National Camp.

Mobile, skilled, athletic and versatile, Foster did not play for a shoe company-sponsored travel program this summer. But the Pure Prep Elite product has found a way to lead an already well-followed college recruitment.

Illinois and Texas A&M offered me recently,” Foster said. “Iowa has really made me a priority. They have been on me hard.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Iowa: “I really like their campus. It is really nice. They have a nice athletic department, too.

“They are just telling me to enjoy the process.”

Kansas: “The atmosphere was crazy at "Late Night in the Phog" with Zion (Williamson). We walked out and everyone was cheering. They kept yelling ‘We want Zion.’

“Their fan base is crazy and the facilities are awesome. It was so loud. It was really great.”

Creighton: “The visit was fun. We watched one of the practices. One thing about them is that all the players do what they are all supposed to do.

“They have my favorite color scheme, and the facilities are really nice and all new.”

WHAT'S NEXT

No visits are slated for Foster as he enters his sophomore campaign at Oskaloosa High School. He just returned home from trips to Creighton and Kansas within consecutive weekends of each other and is due to gather a boatload of other offers from some top programs in the coming weeks and months.

RIVALS' REACTION

Foster is a sensationally talented big man with the physical tangibles and the new age skillset in the frontcourt that not only college coaches and scouts drool over, but NBA personnel do, as well.

A 6-foot-9 center with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Foster is just scratching the surface of what he can become. Capable of making shots from the perimeter, throwing down windmill dunks, blocking shots and rebounding his area, Foster is going to draw heavy recruitment from blueblood schools. Kansas is already involved, but Iowa looks to be in the best spot for the in-state prospect.
