Iowa Lands 1st 2003 Football Commit

HN.com just got off the phone with Central Lyon High School AD John McDonald and he confirmed that Mike Klinkenborg has committed to Iowa.
McDonald said that Mike had to forgo basketball and track season this year due to a hernia that he suffered while lifting weights and high jumping. He has had the hernia taken care of medically and is set to start running again next week.

He visited doctors at the University of Nebraska and they said it's not uncommon for kids to have this happen if they have an interest in lifting. (sort of a 'too much too young' thing, he said.)
Plus, Mike is now 6-2, 230-pounds, roughly 40 to 50 pounds heavier than one year ago.
Last year Klinkenborg jumped 6-feet-7 in the high jump. He played linebacker for Central Lyon last year. He is expected to make a full recovery from the injury.
HN.com has a call into Mike and should have an interview in the near future
