Class of 2019 offensive lineman Justin Britt has made a couple of visits to Iowa City before, but none more important than the one this weekend. This time, it was a chance for the 6-foot-4, 282-pound Britt to showcase his ability to the Iowa coaches at their camp and the Indianapolis native made the most of the opportunity, leaving town with a scholarship offer on Sunday.

“I went to Iowa’s camp for big men, so offensive line and defensive line, and I just gave my all the whole camp,” said Britt. “I tried to be in the front of every drill. When we did board drills, I went almost 20 times and it got to the point where the coaches had to tell me to let other people go too.”

“Once the camp ended, I went to talk to Coach Bell and the other coaches,” Britt continued. “They told me that they liked my energy and effort today and that they wanted to extend an offer to me.”

“When they told me that I was excited because Iowa is a top school I might want to play at, so it was a major accomplishment for me,” said Britt.

Overall, Iowa is the third school to offer Britt as the Hawkeyes join Indiana and Louisville on his list.

“It feels great that my talent in football is going to pay for my education,” Britt said of his early offers.

Iowa recruiting coordinator Kelvin Bell is Britt’s lead contact for the Hawkeyes and has made a good impression on the Class of 2019 prospect and his teammates at Warren Central High School.

“Coach Bell has come to Warren Central more than any other coach that is looking at me,” Britt said.

At Iowa’s camp, Britt had a chance to work with offensive line coach Tim Polasek and other members of the Hawkeye staff and liked what he saw on Sunday.

“I like the coaches’ energy,” said Britt. “They love to teach kids how to play the sport of football.”

“The biggest thing that I want in a college is to be treated like I’m family wherever I decide to go to school,” Britt continued. “At Iowa, I can see that they do that to every kid that attends that school.”

Up next for Britt will be camps at Indiana, Ohio State, and Alabama this month.
