The Iowa Women’s Basketball coaching staff has been busy on the recruiting trail the past few weeks, visiting Des Moines, Louisville, Cincinnati and Chicago for AAU tournaments. Class of 2024 guard 5’7 G Sinai Douglas out of Toledo, Ohio is the latest player to earn an offer from the Hawkeyes.

“My relationship with Coach Bluder is great. I really liked talking to her and the staff was also very kind sending me letters and notes when they could,” said Douglas.

“I think that the coaching staff is really nice and well managed. They have a good relationship and stability since they have been together for so long.”

As a sophomore last season for Toledo Start High School, Douglas averaged 16.7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists for a Spartans team that went 18-4 and came up one win short of the Division I state tournament. Prep Girls Hoops has her rated as the #2 overall prospect in Ohio for the class of ’24.

Sinai was named to the Honorable Mention DI HS Girls All-Ohio Team as a freshman in 2021, while she landed on the First Team DI HS Girls All-Ohio Team this past season as a sophomore.

“I would say my strengths are driving to the basket, finishing through contact and defense,” said Douglas. “I would say I need to work on my shooting and getting my free throw percentage up.”

Sinai will be finishing up her AAU summer schedule in Cincinnati this week with Legends U Basketball. “Trying to finish off strong, since we started off great this July.”

Sinai currently has other offers from Dayton, Cincinnati, Miami Oh, Xavier, Toledo and Oakland. She has taken visits to two visits to Miami Oh, as well as visits to Oakland, Toledo and Dayton. Douglas says she has other schools reaching out to her and that the Iowa coaching staff is looking to get her on campus for a visit this fall.
