Johnson adds Iowa offer

Indianapolis WR/DB D.J. Johnson continues to pick up new scholarship offers with the latest coming from the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound Johnson received the news from Iowa recruiting coordinator Kelvin Bell on Wednesday night.

"I was very excited to hear the news when they offered," said Johnson. "When Coach Bell told me, I was at a loss for words. It's truly a blessing."

For Johnson, it is his eighth offer overall as Iowa joins Purdue, Cincinnati, Ball State, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Toledo, and Western Michigan on his list.

While Iowa's interest is relatively new, the Hawkeyes do have a connection at Johnson's school as one of the assistant coaches at North Central is Anthony Dean, who played wide receiver at Iowa in the 90's.

"He's very excited and proud of me," Johnson said of Dean. "He's going to be filling me in on a lot of information about Iowa."

Meanwhile, Johnson has already started planning his first visit to Iowa City, which will be next month for the Hawkeyes' big junior day.

"I know they have a great program and I'm looking forward to learning more about it on March 5th when I go up there for a visit," said Johnson.
