Class of 2019 defensive back Larry Tracy has been verbally committed to Iowa since last July, but a recent run of new scholarship offers has him wanting to explore his options a bit. Tonight, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound Indianapolis native officially decommitted from Iowa.

"Nothing against the Iowa coaching staff," Tracy told HawkeyeReport.com. "It's still 100% a great place and is still a top school in my recruitment. I have made great relationships with the Iowa staff. This decision is for me to have more time and to have a chance to look at all my opportunities."

Tracy recently added new offers from Minnesota and Purdue to go along with earlier ones from Indiana, Syracuse, Northern Illinois, and Bowling Green in addition to Iowa.

The three-star prospect told us tonight that he remains in close contact with lead recruiter Kelvin Bell at Iowa and still plans to visit the Hawkeyes for their junior day on February 17. Meanwhile, he also plans to start scheduling visits to other schools as well.

"I don't know where yet," said Tracy. "I'm going to see who else comes in and take my time with the decision this time."

Tracy's cousin and high school teammate, Tyrone Tracy Jr., signed with Iowa in December. He is still all set with the Hawkeyes, but supports his cousin's decision to make sure he is making the best choice for himself.

"He committed too early," Tyrone Tracy Jr. said. "He still wants to explore his options."

"I want him to be at the right place," he continued. "If Iowa is it, then he will commit there again. He will know."

"If it’s not Iowa, then I will still be rooting for him no matter where he goes."

As a junior this past season, Tracy had a total of 86 tackles, 10 TFL, 14 pass breakups, and three interceptions.
