Waukee defensive end Nathan Nelson is going to follow in the footsteps of his father, Jeff, and older brother, Anthony, and play college football at the University of Iowa. Today, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Nelson announced that he has accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity with the Hawkeyes.
"Iowa just felt right," said Nelson. "I've always dreamed about putting on the black and gold and today just felt like the right time."
"Now I get to focus on the rest of my senior basketball season."
Along with the walk-on opportunity at Iowa, Nelson also considered scholarship offers from Augustana, Sioux Falls, and Northwest Missouri State.
As a senior, Nelson finished with 37 tackles, 7.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks this past season.
