Class of 2025 6’1 G Jordan Speiser out of St Charles, Missouri was noticed by the Iowa coaching staff earlier than nearly every other DI school. The Hawkeyes offered Speiser last June after she attended the Iowa Elite Camp. The offer was her second DI offer behind Kansas and now she has ten total offers.

Speiser burst onto the Missouri high school scene last year as a freshman at Lutheran St Charles. She broke multiple school records, including most 3pt makes in a season (116), season free throw percentage (92%), most points in a game (49) and most points in a single season (675). She averaged 25.0 points per game and 2.37 steals for a Cougars team that went 21-6, before falling in districts.

She was named conference player of the year and district player of the year, while also being named to the first team all-conference and all-district teams. Prep Girls Hoops rates her as the #1 player in the state of Missouri for the class of 2025, as well as the #18 recruit in the country.

She currently has other offers from Purdue, Illinois, Kansas State, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, DePaul, Florida Atlantic and Missouri State. She has taken visits to Iowa and Missouri twice, while she has also visited Kansas.

We caught up with the talented guard after she played the past two weekends with Missouri Phenom in Des Moines for the “Battle of the Best” and Chicago for NIKE Nationals.

Q: What’s it like playing in these tournaments where every game has players getting recruited to DI schools and the whole tournament has DI coaches watching?

SPEISER: It’s exciting. Really cool to see all the coaches there, but once the game starts all of that fades into the background. Playing against so many great players really tests you and your and allows you as a player to find out where you need to focus some time and energy during your training. I also like building relationships with some of the players from different parts of the country.

Q: Lots of talented players and future college players in a tournament like this, what can you learn about yourself as a player over the span of a couple games?

SPEISER: I really learn my strengths and struggles. I love competing in these tournaments because it lets you know; hey you still have a lot of work to do. It motivates me to get back to work to be better at the next one.

Q: What does the rest of your summer look like from a tournament standpoint?

SPEISER: We competed in Chicago after the Des Moines tournament. We will then have another tournament in Kansas.

Q: You’ve visited Iowa a couple times now. The Elite Camp and then for a football game, what are your thoughts on the program and those visits?

SPEISER: I enjoyed all of the time I have spent at Iowa! From the coaching staff, campus and just the culture that I felt amongst the players is amazing. The football game was incredible, and everyone made me and my family feel like a part of the team. I haven’t been to a basketball game yet, but I’m looking forward to getting to one this season!

Q: What is your relationship like with Coach Lisa Bluder and the rest of the coaching staff?

SPEISER: Most of my conversations are with Coach (Jan) Jensen. Everyone is super busy, so we try to connect as much as possible. It’s always great to talk with Coach Bluder, or anyone on the staff.

Q: Iowa was your second DI offer after Kansas and now you have ten offers. Does it mean anything extra to you that Coach Bluder and her staff were one of the first to notice you and offer?

SPEISER: Absolutely, I felt comfortable with all the coaches at Iowa as soon as I met them. To have a great coach like Coach Bluder believe in me at such a young age means a lot. I definitely don’t take that for granted.

Q: As you start to get more offers and take more visits, what are some important things that you are looking for in a school that would make it stand out amongst others?

SPEISER: I’m not sure really what I’m looking for. Everyone says when you know, you know. So I am going to visit some schools and I’m sure it will be tough, but with the help from my parents and plenty of prayers, I feel I will make the right decision.

Q: Right now, if you take a step back and look at your game, what would you say your strengths are and maybe some things that you want to work on?

SPEISER: I feel my strengths are my ability to see the floor and pass and I hear that I can shoot pretty well. I pride myself on my quick release. Playing at such a high level, I feel that the faster I can get the ball off, the bigger advantage I gain. With being such a big guard, I spend a lot of time on my ball skills and lateral quickness.

Q: Do you have any visits scheduled for the end of the summer/fall?

SPEISER: I have picked up some new offers and have some visits to SEC schools and Big 12 schools. Should be a busy end of summer and fall.
