Stanley solid with Iowa

Iowa quarterback commit Nathan Stanley, who recently added an offer from Wisconsin, was back in Iowa City this past weekend for the Hawkeyes' junior day. The visit gave the 6-foot-4, 193-pound Stanley a chance to see the new facilities, catch up with the Iowa coaching staff, and help their recruiting efforts. We caught up with Stanley to talk about the visit, get the latest on the Badgers' interest, and much more.

Q: What was the junior day experience like for you on Sunday?

STANLEY: It was fun. It was good to see the other recruits that they've offered and see if I can help them out a little bit and get some kids to go there that I know from Wisconsin.

Q: Did you already know some of the guys that were there?

STANLEY: Not that well yet, but we just said hi and talked a little bit.

Q: Can you kind of take us through the day and what all you got to do?

STANLEY: They took our photo and height and weight and then we had brunch. Then we had a tour of the facilities and everything.

Q: What were your thoughts on the new facilities now that they are finished?

STANLEY: They're ridiculous. Just amazing. Not all of the graphics are done, but all of the construction is done and it's all state of the art stuff, so it's pretty cool.

Q: Did you get to meet with Coach Davis in the quarterbacks meetings?

STANLEY: Yes sir. They had position breakdowns so I was in there with five other quarterbacks and we just went over what they do in their offense and watched a couple plays on film.

Q: Overall, what was your feeling leaving Iowa City on Sunday?

STANLEY: I thought it was awesome.

Q: Since football season ended, was it on to basketball right way for you?

STANLEY: Yep, we're about half way through basketball season right now.

Q: How is the season going?

STANLEY: Pretty good. Our team is 10-3 right now.

Q: With Wisconsin hiring Paul Chryst, who recruited you when he was at Pitt, have the Badgers been in contact since he's come on board?

STANLEY: Yeah, he stopped by my school on Friday and I talked with him.

Q: Is his offer kind of still on the table at Wisconsin now?

STANLEY: Yeah, he said that anything that was at Pittsburgh is now at Wisconsin.

Q: You probably knew that was coming once he was hired, but what were your thoughts on that meeting?

STANLEY: Like you said, I kind of expected it, but it doesn't change my mind about where I've chosen. That's really all I have to say about that.

Q: Going back to Iowa, what makes you comfortable there?

STANLEY: I think just the fact that Coach Ferentz has been there 16 years. He's had offers from NFL teams and other prestigious colleges, but he hasn't left. That security is kind of nice to know that I can play for the same coach all four years. They have great facilities too, but really it's about the people and the academics. They have a good program in what I plan to study (physical therapy). Also, I have family in Iowa too.

Q: Is it your mom that's originally from Iowa?

STANLEY: Yeah, Central Iowa, about two hours away from Iowa City. My grandma and grandpa still live in the same town there.
