Wagner headed to Iowa

Last week, Ahmad Wagner's plans were to make his official visit to Iowa and then see where his recruitment stood. But, the 2015 forward decided that he was comfortable with the Hawkeyes on Sunday and made his verbal commitment to Iowa.
"I talked to my parents, my high school coach, and my AAU coach and we sat down and discussed it and felt like there was no point in waiting for my official visit. Iowa was where I wanted to go, so I pulled the trigger," Wagner said.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Huber Heights, OH held offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Texas Tech, Toledo, Kent State, Butler, and Wright State.
Wagner said he called Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery on Sunday to let him know the news and he was naturally very excited to get the forward on board.
"I called him and told him what my conversations were like with my parents and my coaches and then I told him I wanted to spend my four years in college at Iowa," Wagner said. "He was really happy and he said when he started recruiting me he saw me as a guy who could come in and play right away as a freshman."
At this point, Wagner hasn't set foot on the Iowa campus. He will do that on the weekend of September 6th when he makes his official visit. He has no reservations about making a commitment without visiting Iowa City.
"I'm not concerned about that at all," Wagner said. "I just felt comfortable with the Iowa program and the coaches. I know everything will be fine on my visit and I know I will love it when I get to Iowa."
With the actual recruiting process concluded, Wagner is certainly feeling a burden being lifted off his shoulders knowing he will be at the University of Iowa starting next fall.
"There is a real sense of relief. The recruiting process can always be stressful, but it's also a good learning process and a humbling one as well. I am glad that I got the opportunity to be recruited and I am excited to be a Hawkeye."
With Wagner's commitment, he joins small forward Brandon Hutton and shooting guard Andrew Fleming in the Class of 2015 for the Hawkeyes. Iowa has to remaining scholarships that they can fill in 2015.
