Young back on the market

Des Moines Lincoln linebacker Trevon Young is back on the market and looking for a new school this month. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Young had been verbally committed to Iowa since June, but the Hawkeyes parted ways with the three-star prospect after two run-ins with the law over the past six months.

"I got into some trouble, so they took my scholarship away," Young said via text message on Tuesday.

According to the Des Moines Register, Young was charged with criminal trespass in December after police responded to a loud music complaint at a vacant home in Des Moines and found twelve individuals and the smell of marijuana coming from the house. Previously, he was charged with third-degree burglary and interference with official acts during an incident in July, which led to a four-game suspension to start the 2012 football season.

Originally, Young chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Iowa State and South Dakota State and also had interest from a few other schools in the Midwest. Now, he is looking mostly at junior colleges for next year, he told us on Tuesday.

"Either Iowa Western, Iowa Central, or Ellsworth," Young said.
