Mason City offensive lineman Carter Gorder may only be a sophomore but his play on the field has him garnering attention from both Iowa and Iowa State early on. After the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Gorder attended Iowa's junior day on Sunday, we caught up with him to get the latest on his recruiting.

Q: What were your initial thoughts on your trip Sunday at Iowa?

GORDER: I loved it. It was way more than I thought it would be. The atmosphere there is just amazing.

Q: What was your schedule during the course of the day?

GORDER: First we ate in the stadium and then they took us around all of their facilities. We got to see everything before talking to players and getting to know what it’s like living on campus. Then we got to meet our position coaches.

Q: What part of the day did you enjoy the most?

GORDER: Being able to meet all of the coaches.

Q: Why did that stand out to you so much?

GORDER: Because they gave me a lot of really good advice and they really do care about you not only as an athlete but as a person.

Q: Which coaches did you speak with most during the day?

GORDER: The strength coach and my position coach.

Q: Did they say anything about you as a player or recruit?

GORDER: Not really other then I need to come to their camp this summer.

Q: How do you feel about the Iowa program as a whole?

GORDER: It’s a very prestigious program. They expect nothing but the best from everyone. Overall, I love it.

Q: Had you been to the University of Iowa before today?

GORDER: No.

Q: Was it what you envisioned going in?

GORDER: No, it was a lot better than I expected.

Q: Do you have any other visits planned ahead?

GORDER: Not yet, but I have a lot of camps this summer though.

Q: What does your camp schedule look like this summer?

GORDER: I’m going to Iowa, Iowa State, and probably Kansas.

Q: What colleges are recruiting you the most?

GORDER: Iowa.

Q: What are your workout plans going forward?

GORDER: I’m in track right now and lifting this summer.
