Iowa defensive end commit Caden Crawford had a chance to make his official visit with the Hawkeyes this weekend. For the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Kansas native, it was his first real recruiting visit to Iowa City since he committed during the dead period, so it was nice to see everything in person for the first time.

"My favorite part of the visit had to be meeting all the coaches and other recruits in person," said Crawford. "Then seeing the facilities and sitting down and watching film and talking to coaches was awesome."

Crawford also had a chance to spend a lot of time with the current players at Iowa and felt like he fit in well with the Hawkeyes.

"My player host was Seth Benson," Crawford said. "We just had a ton of fun. We went to a bowling alley and played putt putt. I got along well with Seth and met Joe Evans, Sam LaPorta, Tyler Linderbaum, and pretty much every other guy that hung out with us."

Meeting with defensive line coach Kelvin Bell, Crawford learned more about Iowa's scheme and how they stress versatility upfront on defense.

"We pretty much sat down and went through what being a defensive lineman at Iowa is like," said Crawford. "Everything is interchangeable. What I liked is how flexible everyone has to be because of having to play every position on the defensive line. It gives you a higher chance of seeing the field when you know all four spots."

Crawford, who made an unofficial visit to Kansas State earlier this month, says it was not a topic that he discussed much with the Iowa coaches, but he is all in with the Hawkeyes now.

"It wasn’t really talked about, but after this morning's meeting with Coach Bell, I’m 100% in," said Crawford. "I'm not visiting anywhere else. I’m a Hawkeye."
