As he announced on Tuesday, 2025 three-star defensive tackle out of Chicago Marist, Brad Fitzgibbon has committed to Iowa following the Hawkeyes' big official visit weekend.

Premium subscribers knew that Fitzgibbon was FutureCasted to Iowa since the beginning of May, and sources indicated that the 6'3", 280-pound DT was a heavy lean toward the Hawks over the weekend.

Fitzgibbon ultimately chose the Hawkeyes over Michigan State and Kansas, two other programs where he took official visits. He also had offers from programs like Arizona State, Iowa State and Wisconsin.

Though he had to wait longer for an offer from Iowa than any of the aforementioned programs, it made picking it up all the more sweet.

"It makes me feel a little more honored," he said in May. "It's one of those things that makes me enjoy it more. This one is different -- I don't know a word to describe it. It felt different in a good way."

Fitzibbon is a classic Kelvin Bell target at defensive tackle, and this pair could fit together well for a long time, especially considering how much the three-star DT admires Bell.

"Coach Bell runs his practices with intent and knows exactly what he's going to do before every practice," he said in May. "He knows what he wants, and if he doesn't like something, he'll tell you. He'll tell you what he wants you to change, but also what he likes about what he sees. Seeing that and talking to him in person -- knowing how honest he is about that stuff is really something special."

In just five games played last season for the RedHawks, Fitzgibbon posted ten tackles, including seven tackles for loss.

He is the twelfth commit in the Hawkeyes 2025 recruiting class, joining Charles Bell, Drew MacPherson, Lucas Allgeyer, Cameron Herron, Mason Woods, Thomas Meyer, Eli Johnson, Jimmy Sullivan, Carson Cooney, Burke Gautcher and Joey VanWetzinga.
