Following his official visit, 2025 three-star offensive lineman Lucas Allgeyer announced his commitment to Iowa on Sunday evening.

A product of Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School in St. Louis, Allgeyer is the third offensive line commit in the class, joining Joey VanWetzinga and Cameron Herron.

Premium subscribers were made aware that Allgeyer was FutureCasted to the Hawkeyes prior to his announcement.

Lucas Allgeyer has a plethora of connections to the football program and athletics as a whole in Iowa City. As previously noted to premium subscribers, the 2025 three-star OL is the nephew of former Iowa OL Ken Allgeyer, who played in Iowa City from 1986-90.

His cousin (and Ken's son), Nick Allgeyer, was a pitcher on the Iowa baseball team from 2015-18 and went on to play in Triple A ball and also spent some time in MLB. Family friend Matt Markway played tight end for Iowa in the '90s and Lucas' high school DL coach Mike Wells was a Hawkeye defensive lineman from 1989-93 as well.

Allgeyer is also a big fan of OL coach, George Barnett.

"I like Coach Barnett a lot," Allgeyer told me in February. "I could definitely see myself playing for him. We've talked on the phone a couple times, and he came into my school to watch me workout. We talked for a while. It was just a really good conversation. Getting to meet him in person was nice. I really enjoyed talking to him and I like him a lot."

The 2025 OL chose the Hawkeyes over Northwestern and Kansas State, where he took his other official visits. Other offers included Washington, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Miami (FL), Iowa State and others.

Allgeyer is the tenth commit in the Hawkeyes 2025 recruiting class, joining Herron, VanWetzinga, Drew MacPherson, Mason Woods, Thomas Meyer, Eli Johnson, Jimmy Sullivan, Carson Cooney and Burke Gautcher.
