Performance of the Week

Quarterback Marco Lainez had a big game on Saturday as he finished 14/16 passing for 246 yards with three touchdowns through the air and also scored on a 75 yard rushing touchdown to lead Hun past Royal Imperial Collegiate 49-6.

Through two games, Lainez is 22/26 passing (84.6%) for 462 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He also has 128 yards rushing and one touchdown on the ground for Hun (2-0) who travels to Brunswick this week.

Other Performances

Defensive end Kenny Merrieweather had three tackles in Detroit King's 68-0 win over Detroit Mumford on Thursday. Through two games, Merrieweather has seven tackles and one sack for King (1-1) who plays at Cass Tech this week.

Offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor led the way up front as Southeast Polk racked up 297 rushing yards in their 42-21 win over Waukee Northwest on Friday. Southeast Polk (3-0) hosts Ankeny this week.

Defensive back John Nestor led the Chicago Marist defense with seven tackles in their 31-3 win over Nazareth Academy on Friday. Through three games, Nestor has 15 tackles and one interception for Marist (2-1) who travels to Mt. Carmel this week.

Running back Kendrick Raphael had 18 carries for 124 yards on Friday as Naples beat Immokalee by a score of 28-0. Through three games, Raphael has 41 carries for 360 yards and three touchdowns for Naples (2-1) who travels to Golden Gate this week.

Defensive back Zach Lutmer threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns, rushed for 30 yards, and had five tackles and one tackle for loss as Central Lyon/George-Little Rock beat West Sioux 44-6 on Friday. Through three games, Lutmer has 534 yards passing, 302 yards rushing, and 11 touchdowns on offense and 13.5 tackles on defense for Central Lyon/George-Little Rock (3-0) who hosts West Lyon this week.

Defensive end David Caulker finished with 5.5 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in Des Moines North's 45-22 loss to Sioux City North on Friday. Through three games, Caulker has 13 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks for North (2-1) who hosts Waterloo East this week.

Offensive lineman Cannon Leonard led Iroquois West to a 62-7 win over Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman on Friday. Offensively, Iroquois West finished with 183 rushing yards and defensively Leonard had six tackles in the game and now has nine tackles and two sacks on the season. Iroquois West (3-0) hosts Salt Fork this week.

Offensive lineman Leighton Jones helped Brownsburg stay undefeated as they piled up 640 yards of total offense on their way to a 60-21 win over Avon on Friday. Brownsburg (4-0) travels to Fishers this week.

Wide receiver Alex Mota had 16 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown on the ground and one catch for 12 yards in Marion's 38-14 win over Benton Community on Friday. Through three games, Mota has 151 yards rushing, 87 yards receiving, and two touchdowns on offense along with 11.5 tackles on defense for Marion (1-2) who travels to Central Dewitt this week.

Linebacker Aidan Hall had eight carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns rushing, three catches for 33 yards and one touchdown receiving, and three tackles in Harlan's 42-14 win over Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Friday. Through three games, Hall has 175 yards rushing, 158 yards receiving, and six touchdowns on offense and eight tackles on defense for Harlan (2-1) who hosts Glenwood this week.

Tight end Zach Ortwerth played his first full game of the season on Friday after recovering from labrum surgery and finished with three catches for 72 yards and one touchdown on offense and one tackle and a fumble recovery on defense for SLUH in their 63-35 loss to CBC. SLUH (0-3) plays Vashon this week.

Defensive tackle Maddux Borcherding-Johnson finished with 6.5 tackles in Norwalk's 49-27 loss to Lewis Central on Friday. Through three games, Borcherding-Johnson has 14.5 tackles and two tackles for loss for Norwalk (2-1) who plays at Dallas Center-Grimes this week.

Offensive lineman Trevor Lauck led the way upfront as Roncalli finished with 429 rushing yards in their 38-17 win over Columbus North on Friday. Defensively, Lauck had one tackle in the game and now has four tackles and one sack on the season for Roncalli (4-0) who hosts Guerin Catholic this week.

Defensive lineman Chase Brackney had six tackles and one sack and helped Cherry Creek hold Chatfield to just 125 yards of total offense in a 28-5 win for the Bruins on Friday. Through three games, Brackney has 21 tackles and one sack for Cherry Creek (2-1) who hosts Arvada West this week.

Linebacker Ben Kueter had 11.5 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss on defense and 56 yards rushing and 28 yards receiving on offense in City High's 55-19 win over Ames on Friday Through three games, Kueter has 31.5 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks on defense and 89 yards rushing, 106 yards receiving, and one touchdown on offense for City High (2-1) who travels to Dowling this week.

Defensive back Kahlil Tate had seven tackles and an interception that he returned 34 yards for Kenwood Academy in their 25-7 win over Taft on Saturday. Through three games, Tate has 21 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one interception for Kenwood (2-1) who plays at Chicago Hubbard this week.

Class of 2024 linebacker Derek Weisskopf had six catches for 94 yards and one touchdown on offense and 6.5 tackles on defense to help Williamsburg beat Solon 38-25 on Friday. Through three games, Weisskopf has 11 tackles and three interceptions on defense and 10 catches for 170 yards and one touchdown on offense for Williamsburg (3-0) who travels to Central Lee this week.

Class of 2024 linebacker commit Cam Buffington had 134 yards rushing, 122 yards receiving, and four touchdowns on offense and 10 tackles and one tackle for loss on defense in Winfield-Mt. Union's 50-44 loss to New London on Friday. Through four games, Buffington has 35.5 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, and a pick six on defense and 646 yards rushing, 188 yards receiving, and 14 touchdowns on offense for Winfield-Mt. Union (2-2) who travels to HLV this week.

Class of 2024 offensive lineman Cody Fox led an East Buchanan rushing attack that piled up 384 rushing yards on their way to a 38-0 win over Starmont on Friday. Defensively, Fox had three tackles in the game and now has 12.5 on the season for East Buchanan (2-1) who travels to Alburnett this week.

Class of 2024 linebacker Preston Ries had 217 yards passing, 117 yards rushing, and one touchdown on offense and seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack on defense in Monticello's 28-14 loss to Beckman Catholic on Friday. In three games, Ries has 655 yards passing, 436 yards rushing, and seven touchdowns on offense and 21 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and four sacks on defense for Monticello (1-2) who travels to Tipton this week.

Class of 2024 quarterback James Resar was 16/29 passing for 234 yards and added 48 yards rushing and one touchdown on the ground as Bishop Kenny beat Tocoi Creek 25-13 on Friday. Through three games, Resar is 32/52 passing (61.5%) for 484 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions and has 21 carries for 148 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground for Bishop Kenny (3-0) who hosts Hollis Christian this week.
