Future Hawkeye Enjoys Official Visit

Future Hawkeye Marshal Yanda was in Iowa City this weekend for his official visit. HawkeyeReport.com caught up with the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Yanda to get his thoughts on seeing his soon to be college up close and in person.

“It went well,” said Yanda. “I went down there on Friday and then just hung out and met the coaches. We did a bunch of academic stuff and then went to the basketball game last night.”

Yanda, who was hosted by redshirt freshman offensive lineman Todd Plagman, was also able to take in two of Iowa’s practices this weekend.

“I got to watch two practices on Friday and Saturday,” Yanda said. “It was cool. It was a good learning experience. It looks like they’re fast-paced and they really get a lot of things done.”

The official visit this weekend was the second time Yanda has driven to Iowa City in recent weeks, has he was also in town for Iowa’s home finale against Wisconsin.

“I had a good time,” said Yanda. “It was really just awesome with them winning and being Big Ten champs. It was fun to be there.”

According to Yanda, while he is enjoying his time in Iowa City on the visits, he is ready to get there in January and get to work.

“Well, it’s fun and everything, but I’m ready to get down there and play,” Yanda said. “I’m having a good time meeting everybody and getting acquainted with the coaches and learning the system, but I’m ready to practice. I mean the best thing about the official visit was getting to watch practice.”

Marshal Yanda will graduate from NIACC in less than two weeks and will sign his national letter of intent to Iowa on December 15th.
