The Iowa Hawkeyes were the first to offer four-star running back Eno Benjamin back when he was a sophomore in high school. Today, all of the coaching staff’s hard work over the past year and a half paid off as the 5-foot-9, 203-pound Benjamin gave his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes.

"I felt much more comfortable at Iowa," Benjamin told HawkeyeReport.com. "Tough, huge linemen, what's not to love about Big Ten football?"

The Iowa coaching staff loves Benjamin's versatility with the ability to run inside or out and catch the ball out of the backfield. The Hawkeyes have told the four-star prospect he could be a program changer for them.

"I can run in between the boys up front and be outside in the slot versus a linebacker or safety," said Benjamin. "A (Christian) McCaffrey type back."

A U.S. Army All-American, Benjamin chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Michigan, Baylor, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Miami, Missouri, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Nevada, Oklahoma State, Tulane, San Diego State, SMU, and North Texas.

Benjamin, who plans to enroll a semester early at Iowa, is the ninth commitment for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2017. He joins A.J. Epenesa, Juan Harris, Coy Kirkpatrick, Jacob Coons, Tristan Wirfs, Djimon Colbert, Ivory Kelly-Martin, and Mark Kallenberger.

As a junior, Benjamin rushed for 2,652 yards and 41 touchdowns at Wylie East.
