With Ben VanSumeren flipping to Michigan, the Iowa Hawkeyes now have another spot to fill at linebacker and are targeting South Dakota native Seth Benson. This past weekend, the 6-foot-1, 210-pound Benson visited Iowa City and left town with a scholarship offer from the Iowa coaching staff.

"I got there in the morning on Sunday and went to Coach Ferentz's office right away and he made the offer," said Benson. "Then I went and talked to Coach Wallace and Coach Doyle and then watched practice. We all just talked for while and they answered a lot of questions because everything has happened so quickly."

Benson, who is a South Dakota State commit, also visited Iowa City during the season when the Hawkeyes played Minnesota. With the new offer on the table, the two-star prospect has a lot to think about with the early signing period just two days away.

"Right now, I’m just thinking over everything that happened yesterday and talking to my family a lot," Benson said.

A three-time state champion during his career at Sioux Falls Washington, Benson was named Gatorade player of the year in the state of South Dakota after racking up an impressive 105 tackles and 13 TFL his senior year.
