Iowa City West wide receiver Traevis Buchanan continues to catch the attention of the Hawkeye staff and will have at least one coach evaluating him later this fall.

"I talked to Coach Morgan and he told me that they watched my tape and that they are planning to come out to a game," said Buchanan. "They are waiting for the playoffs because they can only come to one game.”

Buchanan had a chance on Saturday to see Iowa in action during a game day visit.

“I really liked it," Buchanan said. "I’ve always liked Iowa bring from here. It was a really fun experience. I really like their facilities a lot. They have a lot to offer as a Big Ten program. That was pretty fun.”

The trip allowed Buchanan to see everything that the Hawkeyes have to offer.

“We had breakfast at 8:15 AM and then had a walk-through of the facilities," he said. "We got a chance to see the weight room, try on jerseys, and then got to see the NFL weight room. We watched a hype video and then headed over to Kinnick. We got to go to the tunnel and all of that. We saw the players warm up and that was about it.”

Buchanan mentioned the one portion of his visit that stood out to him the most.

“I really enjoyed seeing the weight room personally," said Buchanan. "That is one thing I am looking for in where I go to college. I want a college that can help me develop and put on more weight. That is the only thing I think I am missing. Iowa is good at hat. Their weight room was phenomenal.”

Iowa is a program that Buchanan has had a connection with for quite some time.

“I really like Iowa," Buchanan said. "I grew up here and always have been going to their games since I saw two-years old. My God parents have had season tickets and we have always gone. They have a lot to offer.”

Buchanan plans to get to another school later this month.

“I am going to Northwest Missouri State on the 21st," he said. "I talked to my coach about some other schools that want me to visit but I haven’t made a final decision on those yet.”

As the #2 rated team in Class 4A this fall, Buchanan has been pleased with how the Trojans have performed so far.

“We are playing pretty good overall but there are still things we have to work on," said Buchanan. "We have yet to play a game where we meet all of the expectations we set at the starting of the week. We are still beating top 10 teams by 14-20 points but want to put it all together by the time the playoffs roll around and it gets serious.”
