Iowa is known as a school that has produced great offensive lineman during the Kirk Ferentz era.

On Thursday, one of the top offensive line prospects in the country, who happens to be from the state of Iowa, was on campus for an unofficial visit. 2023 offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor made his way from central Iowa to Iowa City.

Proctor, who Rivals.com ranks as the 6th best prospect in the country, regardless of position, enjoyed his trip to see the Hawkeye program.

“I really liked my visit to Iowa today,” he said. “They have good coaches and they answered a lot of my questions.”

Proctor had three pretty significant meetings on his visit. First, was a visit with the head coach, Kirk Ferentz.

“We talked about a lot of different things. We sat down and talked football and education during my time in his office.”

One other important person that Proctor met for the first time in-person was new offensive line coach George Barnett. He took over for Tim Polasek this spring and that meant building a new relationship with his potential position coach.

“I thought Coach Barnett was really cool,” he said. “All of my visits with him before today were over the phone, so it was good to meet him in-person.”

Lastly, Proctor finally met the person who led him to wear #74 on the football field, former Hawkeye and first round draft pick Tristan Wirfs. The current Tampa offensive tackle was in the building for a workout and Proctor was able to sit down with him and pick his brain.

“Meeting him was very cool. I got to sit down with him and ask him questions. We talked about Iowa in general and what to look into for a strength and conditioning program,” Proctor said.

It’s been a whirlwind of visits this week for Proctor. He saw Alabama and Iowa this week and he’s slated to see Missouri starting on Friday night. While the visits can wear down a prospect, Proctor said he knows he will be back to see Iowa again.

“I plan on visiting Iowa again this fall,” he said.
