New Jersey defensive end Brandon Simon is graduating high school on June 4th and moving to Iowa City to begin college at the University of Iowa a few days later. We caught up with the 6-foot-2, 250-pound Simon, who will wear #93 for the Hawkeyes, to talk about his upcoming freshman year and much more.

Q: When do you make the move to Iowa City this summer?

SIMON: I arrive in Iowa City June 8th and start classes June 14th.

Q: What are you looking forward to in starting workouts with the team?

SIMON: Coach Doyle is the best in the business, so I can't wait to get started in the gym and building that rapport with my teammates.

Q: What are your goals for your freshman year? Are you hoping to play or expecting to redshirt?

SIMON: My goal this season is to come in and compete and to get better every day and to do what is needed to be done for my team.

Q: What will it mean to you to walk out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium for the first time?

SIMON: Kinnick is such a historic stadium, named after a true legend. I just can't wait to see the sea of black and gold in the stands.

Q: When you look back at everything, what was it about Iowa that made it the right place for you?

SIMON: I was blessed to have some great offers, but Iowa was the best fit for me. The great football tradition coupled with outstanding academics made it feel like home. I was really surprised by Iowa City. I love the campus and first class facilities. It will be an honor to play for Coach Ferentz, Coach Morgan, and Coach Parker.

As a senior, Simon finished the season with 35 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks for Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
