Reynolds happy with his decision

Just a few days after picking up a scholarship offer from the Iowa coaching staff, Waukee offensive lineman Ross Reynolds gave the Hawkeyes his verbal commitment during his official visit this weekend. We caught up with the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Reynolds to talk about his decision, if he will grayshirt, plus a whole lot more.

Q: Why did you end up picking Iowa?

REYNOLDS: It was just the right fit. I really love Brian Ferentz and Coach Ferentz. There is nothing bad that you can say about that program.

Q: How was your official trip?

REYNOLDS: It was awesome and I had a great time. It was nice to hang out with the football players and see a little bit more of the campus that I hadn't seen before.

Q: When did you end up committing?

REYNOLDS: This morning, we all met at Coach Ferentz's house for breakfast. He took us all individually and sat with our families and talked. I told him I was ready to commit and want to play football.

Q: What was his reaction?

REYNOLDS: He was happy and he was excited.

Q: What is the exact situation with the offer status?

REYNOLDS: They actually don't know yet. They are not going to know possibly until signing day but they are more than likely going to know this week.

Q: Do you know what it hinges on?

REYNOLDS: It just depends on if a spot opens up or another roster spot opens up.

Q: Are you stressed about what the offer will be?

REYNOLDS: I am not worried about it. I am happy to be able to play there.

Q: Who was your host for the weekend?

REYNOLDS: Boone Myers.

Q: What was the highlight of the trip?

REYNOLDS: It was just hanging out with Boone, Jon Wisnieski, and just being with the players. We also got to hang out with Brandon Scherff. It was a lot of fun.

Q: Did you learn anything on the trip?

REYNOLDS: Not really. I've been up there quite a few times and I kind of knew most of the stuff.

Q: Did they specify more about where you'll end up position wise?

REYNOLDS: It will be inside at either guard or center. Coach Brian Ferentz said I'll learn all three positions.

Q: How do you feel about the Iowa coaches?

REYNOLDS: They are awesome. I don't think I'd want anyone else coaching me.

Q: What are your plans for signing day?

REYNOLDS: We'll do some little things around the school with all the athletes who are signing. We don't have anything big planned.
