Under Armour All-American punter evaluating his options

After punting in the Under Armour All-American Bowl, Tennessee native Joe Doyle is getting down to business and looking to choose a college. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound Doyle is still considering several different schools, including the Iowa Hawkeyes, who had recruiting director Tyler Barnes stop by to see him on Tuesday.

“It went well,” said Doyle. “It was pretty windy and raining pretty good, but they had me punt from the hashes and do some Aussie punts to pin it inside the twenty.”

The Hawkeyes are out evaluating a handful of punters this month and appear ready to offer a scholarship to the one they feel is the best fit.

“They said they are seeing a couple other punters as well and we should know who they want soon,” Doyle said.

Currently, Doyle holds scholarship offers from Air Force, Charlotte, and Middle Tennessee State, and is also considering preferred walk-on opportunities at South Carolina and NC State, among others. Tennessee and Southern Miss remain in close contact as well.

“I’m looking at a bunch of different schools right now,” said Doyle. “I don't have anything set on which school is my favorite yet.”

As a senior, Doyle averaged 41.1 yards per punt for Farragut High School in Knoxville, TN.
